Hi Laura, I've always loved "home" books and have always lived in small places even after having a kid. Your book (and Erin Boyle's blog) were some of the only material where I felt seen! Also your book is just really really good and many people who've seen it on my shelf pick it up over anything else. This is just to say I'm loving your newsletter. It feels like a pit stop of rationality and calm-headedness on the internet. 💜
Thank you so much! FWIW Erin's book Simple Matters is wonderful too--AND she's just moved her newsletter over to Substack (https://eboyle.substack.com/)
Thank you for this book. It has helped me feel proud to live in my small home and I look forward to making creative upgrades down the line - and I have many pages of your book bookmarked for inspiration! Bigger isn’t better 😊
Hi Laura, just perusing your wonderful newsletter and wanted to say that this post was so encouraging. I loved hearing this story (and can't wait to read The Little Book of Living Green one day).
Happy 3rd anniversary! I’m always so excited to see your newsletter pop up in my inbox and it would be such a treat to own a copy of your book. We recently moved into a smallish apt in JH after having our twin boys and I’ve definitely taken many of your small living tips to heart as we turn this house into a home.👌❤️🙌
Happy book birthday! I love your Little Book of Living Small (as I still live in a teeny-tiny place), and so appreciated you coming on my little podcast to talk about it. Small living is underrated, and your book certainly shows how beautiful it can be. Congrats again, Laura. xo
Congrats!!! Your book was so helpful and inspiring (and still is)! I live downtown Seattle in 800 sq ft with 4 kiddos, and your book was so motivating to me. I remember I told my husband, “This is someone who really understands small space and has real ideas- she gets it!” I love that it’s not just about looking amazing but mostly about real small space solutions that work! Thank you so much for the gift of your book!!!
Congratulations on the anniversary! I would LOVE if you wrote a Little Book of Living Green! It's so refreshing to have realistic/ attainable models for living "small" and sustainably... we live in the suburbs, so certainly a larger footprint relative to city apartment standards, but we're raising 2 kiddos in a 2 bedroom and are committed to making the space work for us over the long-term. Also, I think part of the beauty of Substack is that it gets to be whatever you want it to be... so certainly no pressure to limit it to "journalism" if you are comfortable with the first person perspective & semi-public window into your life.
I absolutely love both of your books. I’ve always been fascinated by small spaces in New York City and how people make them functional. Your books are so beautiful and informative. I look forward to your living green book and all future books that you will create.
Congrats on this anniversary! I'm looking forward to seeing the sustainable home tours that you mentioned featured here. Also open to discussing if you're looking for additional submissions in the future... : )
This book remains one of my favorite interior books OF ALL TIME! It's just so real and I think that's what makes me love it so much. I'd love to hear from some of the families and learn about any changes they've made to their homes since the book shoot. Were they able to stay small? Did they make changes as kids got bigger? Any new small space hacks? I'm here for it all!
Thanks, Lindsay! I love the idea of returning to see how a space has changed--and I plan to re-shoot our own home to share how its changed in four years. You can also see Shavonda Gardener's home on her Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sgardnerstyle/ it is completely transformed from when we shot it.
I got your book just as we were preparing to welcome our baby in summer of 2020! We’re still in our 900 square foot home, now with another baby! I often turn to your book for inspiration and encouragement! We live in a city where living small is not the norm at all, and your book makes me feel less alone! Thanks! 🧡

Alix, I'd love to hear about your sustainable space!!!
Awesome. Let me know how you'd prefer to connect (email perhaps?) and I can give you more info.
