Small Notes for mid-April

While I’ve got a more personal post simmering (to publish soon!), this edition of LIVING SMALL is a grab bag of links—what I am calling my ‘Small Notes’—it’s all the things I’ve read, enjoyed, and bookmarked in the last month. I hope you find something that sparks your curiosity.
I am slowly amassing a secondhand collection of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s horticultural handbooks. They’re so good! While many are no longer in print, you can still scoop them up by the lot on eBay.
Another used book that I recently welcomed into my LIVING SMALL library is an extremely readable and comprehensive guide to adding an ADU to your home.
Treehugger’s emails have become decidedly lackluster but it took me a minute to realize they’d laid off some of my favorite writer/editors. I was thrilled to discover Lloyd Alter and Katherine Martinko are both writing Substack newsletters in their post-Treehugger chapters.
The ‘Dude With Sign’ account doesn’t usually make me laugh out loud, but this one got me.
